Original sepia tone with Channel mixer

Thanks to Maurice Hamilton suggestions in the book "Black&White in digital fine atr", this tutorial will show how to realize a perfect sepia-tone picture just using Channel mixer Adjustment layers.

The image “http://www.photoshopexpert.it/images/stories/original_sepia_1.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

First of all convert your picture to black and white. A good way to do this is by adding a Channel mixer Adjustment layer (Layer> New adjustment layer> Channel mixer). Check the Monochrome box to turn the color off. Use the following setting values or test for new. Red: +90%, Green: 0%, Blue: 0%, Constant: +5%.

In this step we are going to make the original sepia tone. Add another Channel mixer Adjustment layer and set the following values.

RED channel
Red: +30%
Green: +70%
Blue: +8%
Constant: +8%

The image “http://www.photoshopexpert.it/images/stories/original_sepia_2b.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

GREEN channel
Red: +25%
Green: +75%
Blue: +8%
Constant: +4%

The image “http://www.photoshopexpert.it/images/stories/original_sepia_2c.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

BLUE channel
Red: +25%
Green: +70%
Blue: +15%
Constant: -2%

The image “http://www.photoshopexpert.it/images/stories/original_sepia_3.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

If you aren't satisfied about final result you can choose to double click on of the Adjustment layers and set up different values.
Enjoy your sepia tone or experiment new settings.
